War of the worlds was such a let down! I'm so, so disappointed...
*spoilers ahead
Well, it started off fine, I guess. I could handle the narration, though I hate it when movies start off that way. If I wanted a narration, I'd go read the darn book. (Which maybe I should, to see how badly war of the worlds screwed up.)
To be fair, it wasn't a total flop. I really loved all the action of Ray and his kids running away from aliens. The part where the endoscopic eye thingy searches for him and Rachael was quite exciting. I couldn't stop chewing my nails. Hah. And Aqil hated that.
But.. how come the good guy never gets zapped? Like, when Ray runs away from the town intersection, ppl around him all get zapped, how come he doesn't? While getting on the ferry also, how is it that the main characters miraculously manage to find a way to get on board? Let's see what else. The part where Ray gets sucked up.. but Finding Nemo style, everyone pulls and he gets out. Haha. And I hated the bloody ending! I could accept all the typical good guys never die theme of the movie, even Dakota Fanning's really annoying high-pitched-always-at-the-wrong-time screams, but not the ending! I was really looking forward to something BIG. But the aliens just die cuz they aren't immune to whatever humans are immune to? Then I wonder what was the point of them planning the extermination for millions of years. They couldn't possibly overlook something as important as that, since they are supposedly smarter than humans cuz they put their plan in place a long, long time ago?
And lastly, again that good guy never dies thing. Robbie, Ray's son after supposedly being blown up or sth, still manages to reach his mother in Boston way before Ray does.
I repeat, I was so, so disappointed by War of the worlds.. I only appreciated the special effects like the whole highway being blown apart and the zapping of humans. Otherwise, it was quite ludicrous. I wouldnt have had such a huge grudge against the movie if the ending had been better!
I think I've rambled enough about the movie. Hahah..all the way home I kept complaining about it.
