Nail biting.. A little help here?
I admit, I'm a nail biter. It isn't something most people don't know about. I'm just annoyed that I can't stop biting my nails. It's an addiction.
I don't bite nails when I'm nervous or whatever, I just bite when I'm too engrossed in something. I'm a habitual biter. Conditioned reflex, if you like. Like when I read Harry Potter. My poor nails had just grown and within two days, they were reduced to almost nothing once again.
Or sometimes, the nails just feel uneven and being the perfectionist that I sometimes am, I just can't resist. It's like this stupid story I once heard. A monkey wants to share a banana with a friend. He breaks the banana in two but the pieces are uneven. To even them out, he bites the longer piece. Now the longer piece is shorter. So he bites the other piece. Now the shorter piece that became longer is again shorter than the other piece. And it just goes on, and the monkey ends up eating the banana all by himself. That's about roughly what happens when I bite my nails.
My parents and other family members have always hated this bad habit of mine. It must be hereditary. I have at least two other cousins who bite their nails too. And over the years, found friends who bite as well.
Everytime I bite my nails, my Dad smacks me. Everytime I bite my nails, Madhu tsks. Everytime I bite my nails, Aqil whacks my hand and then flicks his fingers at my fingers. You know how some people can just flick the fingers at your skin and it'll hurt. Like that la. Pain, you know?
Anyway, the problem here is I can't stop biting my nails. Even though I've tried like, a million times to stop. I remember there was once a talk in the AVT where the speaker talked about habits. "Habit". You take away the H, you're still left with "A Bit". When you take away the A, you're left with "Bit". You take away the B, you'll still have "It". Ahh. Sure explains why I haven't been able to stop.
I need to solve this problem. But the question is.. HOW?

I got great marks for a Geog test. =) I had to mention it.. Because it's probably never gonna happen ever, ever again.
